Once again many thanks to you and the charity for the generous award of
Jenna’s Tandem bike.
It has already made a difference, we have been out a few small outings and
Jenna enjoys the bike very much, and it has started to give some freedom
back to the family.
Fingers crossed big family bike ride this weekend !!!!

Here is a a quote from an enquiry from a mum looking to help her son get active asking if we can assist….
“My son Joshua was diagnosed just over 2 years ago with a brain tumour and is coming to the end of his 18 months of chemotherapy. He has never walked as the tumour is sat on his balance, but he can cruise furniture, climb, crawl and walk holding hands. he has asked a couple of times for a bike but as you can guess we havent been able to find anything suitable. we would all love to go out as a family for a bike ride.”
With requests of this nature we dispatch one of our independent assessors depending on location in the UK, they will then carry out an assessment at the child’s home looking for all possibile adaptions. The report is then forwarded to CFC HQ and the trike is ordered. When completed the assessor returns to see the child where the trike is fitted for reach and saddle height etc. plus instruction is given on use of any special adaptions to the child and parent.

We would like to say a huge thank you for the bike that we received from you for our daughter Emily. The size is just right and from the look on her face the colour and style are just perfect.. Emily has been undergoing treatment for Leukaemia for over a year now and although there are many ups and downs she continues to respond well and always has a smile on her face.
Some of the drugs affect her walking at times but despite this she is still able to ride a bike and use a scooter. Your gift of a bike has already made a big difference in how she can exercise which then improves her general health and fitness. It also gave her a massive boost to receive such a superb bike.
We are incredibly grateful to your organisation. We never would have thought that when walking is difficult and running is impossible that a bike could still be such a great way to travel. Hopefully Emily can continue her new found interest in cycling. We are certainly trying to encourage her as much as possible when the treatment allows.

Testimonial from a happy mum……
I would just like to say a HUGE thankyou for our bikes, Emma was diagnosed with cancer last year, And I had just bought her a bike for her 12th birthday, she started chemo the week before her birthday. I couldnt bear to have the bike in the house thinking she would never be able to ride it. as the cancer was in her Femour, and this had to be replaced with limb replacment prosthesis. So a friend took the bike.. and emma's journey began, She was so ill with chemo, lost so much weight, everyday was a struggle with life!!.. But here we are 15months on cancer free, line free, putting on weight, the pair of us!!. And we have been on our 1st bike ride together, It was so much fun, and emotional too, watching Emma in front of me bending her new leg. You have made a massive difference to our lives, and a simple thankyou just cannot express my feelings your charity provides SMILES, HAPPINESS, and LAUGHTER.. thankyou Emma, Danni & Cheryl. xxx
Sometimes we receive letters of thanks that perfectly illustrate what cfc is all about, read on……….
Since the last e-mails George deteriorated quite significantly, around a month ago he had a seizure and needed time on life support in intensive care. It’s been such a rough ride for him but he has battled through really well, he managed to spend last weekend at home and he has recovered enough strength to ditch his chariot (wheelchair) and get on his bike for a short ride. He has been so looking forward to these moments, as you can probably tell from the grin on his face!
The bike could not have been better, a great shade of blue (Chelsea fan, no accounting for taste) and even had a motif of a skull on it (as you can see from his sweatshirt a good theme and again no accounting for taste). We do apologise for him not wearing a helmet, as he has spent a year without hair and his treatment means it is falling out again he makes the best of each day, spikes it in the morning and simply refused to let anybody near it!
We know we have tough times ahead but some moments are priceless. Many many thanks to Cyclists Fighting Cancer.
