The Routes
Our routes are designed to offer a challenging but acheiveable test for riders of all abilities. Experienced cyclists will find the 100 mile and 100k have a bit of everything, the perfect basis for longer more challenging riding in the summer months. A great test of fitness for anyone doing the Etape, Marmotte, Dragon ride and so on. The lite routes offer less challenging terrain and both the 10 mile the 25 mile courses being perfect for families and junior riders (under 16′s must be accompanied by an adult).
100k and 100 Mile Courses
The routes are based on our favourite rides in the area taking in as many quiet roads as possible. Starting from Stratford Racecourse on the western edge of town which means we are straightout on to a residential road before shortly heading out into the countryside.
Initially the rides head west from Warwickshire into Worcestershire through the gentle rolling landscape of the Vale of Evesham famous for fruit growing. Heading south the route crosses the River Avon south of Evesham and begins to head east towards Broadway and the edge of the Cotswolds.
Just south of Broadway the rides reach the foot of the longest but steady climb of the day known locally as “Stanway” of just over 2 miles long for 160 metres at around 7% average.
Here the routes diverge with the 100k route heading up a little bit more towards Broadway Tower (the highest point in the Cotswolds) before swooping down into Chipping Campden.
The century riders continue towards Stow on the Wold through the back roads before the climbing up to Stow from Lower Swell. From this point the course heads north skirting around Moreton in Marsh, Shipston on Stour and Kineton before converging back with the 100k ride near Lower Quinton.
Both courses then head back to Stratford upon Avon and the finish at the Racecourse.
