Recycled bikes ready and waiting to be sold at our Charity Bike Shop Stratford

Here at CFC we've always been environmentally conscious and love the fact that we are recycling the bikes that are donated through our Charity Bike Shops, giving them a new lease of life so that they can be enjoyed by new riders for many more years to come.  We estimate that's approximately 10,000 bikes so far!!  Some of these would have been used for scrap metal but many would have also ended up in landfill so we're extremely proud that we are helping to reduce landfill waste, save useful resources and ultimately help the environment too.

We also send all of our old inner tubes to Cycle of Good where they are reused and made into bags, belts, wallets, tech cases and much more!  Cycle of Good help to end poverty in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world.  The inner tubes are shipped to Malawi (by sea, in shared containers), where they have a tailoring school, teaching people to turn what was once waste into beautiful and practical items.

Just recently we've also teamed up with Sharon at Cycle and Recycle, who turns our scrap chains, brake discs and cassettes into bespoke cycling themed gifts, such as clocks, photo frames, keyrings, coasters, to name but a few!  Sharon's a keen cyclist who has a great eye and a lot of talent to turn this waste material into beautiful items for the home.  Sharon donates a percetange of profits back to CFC which allows us to help more children living with cancer, so it's a win-win situation all round!

We're always on the lookout for new ways to reduce waste and help others at the same time, so if you've got an idea please do get in touch!
