Trustees

Kevin Musgrave

I joined CFC as a Trustee in 2013. I have been proud to support the organisation’s mission and long-term vision ever since. As a cancer survivor, I bring both personal experience and a deep commitment to this role. It is an immense privilege to serve as a Trustee for CFC. I find it incredibly rewarding to work with children living with and beyond cancer and feel constantly humbled and inspired by their resilience, courage, and positivity.

Over the years I have been involved with CFC, I have had the privilege of witnessing the organisation’s significant growth and progression into the charity it is today. Seeing the impact CFC continues to make for children and families affected by cancer has been both inspiring and motivating, and I am proud to have played a small part in that journey.

I am passionate about cycling and have been able to combine this with fundraising and awareness for CFC by taking on many cycling challenges, which culminated in competing in the Race Across America  in both 2018 and 2022, helping to raise vital funds and awareness for the charity’s work.

Outside of my trustee responsibilities, I remain committed to supporting children and families affected by cancer and helping CFC continue to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Dr Liz Pharoah

I became a trustee for CFC in 2022, having first joined the team in 2018 as a Cancer Exercise Specialist. I’m a Research Associate at Newcastle University, exploring experiences of physical activity for children and young people following a sarcoma diagnosis.

I recently completed my PhD at Loughborough University, focusing on increasing physical activity and quality of life for paediatric cancer patients and their families through a family-based approach.

With a background as a personal trainer and former primary school teacher, I’ve worked closely with hospitals, families, and young patients to promote the benefits of physical activity during and after cancer treatment. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing children ride their CFC bikes—bringing moments of joy and normality during challenging times.

Debbi Rowley

I have been a Trustee at CFC since spring 2025. However, I have worked alongside the charity for many years, submitting applications for bikes for children and young people that attend Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and during our annual Do It For You Day!

Day to day I work as a physiotherapist in childhood cancer services, and I am also involved in research looking at physical activity benefits for children and young people following cancer diagnosis.

I feel very privileged to now be part of the CFC team and be able to give some of my time to this amazing charity as a thank you for all the amazing work they do in supporting children and young people following a diagnosis of cancer.

Matthew Irvine

I became a trustee in early 2025 after being a longtime supporter and donor the charity.

I first heard of the charity in about 2017 whilst getting a bike fit by Rich Salisbury; the story was fantastic and I knew I wanted to support the charity in any way I could. I became a monthly donor and then a couple of years later the Manchester shop opened just round the corner from where I live.

After a while, I contacted the charity about become a trustee. Professionally my background is in Finance, and I wanted to use this knowledge and experience to help the charity as it continued to grow and expand its operations.

It has been eye-opening to see firsthand the work that goes in behind the scenes and the real difference the charity makes to so many families and I feel proud to be a small cog in what is a wonderful project.
