Max is pedalling

Max has several disabilities as a result of a rare form of brain tumour on his brain stem central nervous system and spine. Diagnosed at 9 months old he underwent 18 months of chemotherapy for which he was pretty much hospitalised throughout. He has had 4 brain surgeries and suffered a relapse in October 2020 and underwent radiotherapy on his brain and spine lasting until January 2021, again for which he was in hospital for the duration of. Max is unable to walk or ride a bike independently, he is blind in his right eye and needs assistance eating and oxygen when sleeping.
He was desperate to join in with family bike rides and go around the local bike park just like his big brother. We were able to provide Max with his own specially adapted trike and soon after we received this message from his mum:
"On behalf of Max and our family I wanted to say a massive 'THANK YOU!' to you Cyclists Fighting Cancer and to all of the very kind and generous people who donated. Max's trike means the world to him and to see him so proud and so happy means the world to us too. I used to push Max around this track in his buggy while his brother biked it. He couldn't wait to go on the bike track with his brother and is absolutely chuffed to bits he's doing it too. We honestly can't thank you enough. It is so lovely for Max to be able to do what other children do and for us to enjoy the outdoors as a family. You have brought us enormous joy."
A few months later the family sent in an update about Max's progress:
"Max has been loving pedalling around various campsites on our tour of Scotland and also biking round the campsite with his brother and friends. He can now steer where he wants to go (is very determined with that) and has started pedalling small amounts by himself. Very proud! And still immensely grateful for the funding for this bike. Absolutely life changing for Max!"
Fantastic work Max, you're doing so well - keep pedalling!
